Every founder knows they should delegate. Very few do it well. Not because they can’t — because letting go feels like losing control.
The trap of “I’ll just do it myself”
It’s faster today and slower forever. Every task you keep is a task the business can never do without you.
Delegate outcomes, not just tasks
Don’t hand over steps to follow — hand over a result to own. Tell people what success looks like, then let them find the path.
- Be clear on the outcome and the deadline.
- Agree how you’ll check in — without hovering.
- Let them do it their way, even if it’s not yours.
Delegation isn’t giving away work. It’s giving away growth — theirs and the business’s.
The first few times feel uncomfortable. Then you get your time — and your business — back.
